Bayern Munich (A) | Post Match Thread

A thoroughly professional performance! We were as nervy as fuck at times in the first 35 minutes, but we kept our heads & saw out a sticky first half.

We remained solid, albeit Aké struggled throughout the first half as Coman was tearing him a second arsehole!

I knew Haaland would miss the penalty. I just had a really bad feeling about it & the pressure told. He redeemed himself with a superb opener & this settled us down & effectively ended the game, as the goal made the wind exit Bayern like a popped balloon.

When Davies came on, he caused us some serious problems. He left Akanji for dead, which is no mean feat & when Grealish seemed favourite for the ball in the closing stages, how the fuck Davies caught Jack & beat him to the ball is beyond me. No wonder seconds later Walker was stood on the sideline waiting for his urgent introduction!

Both penalty awards were bullshit, but by the letter of the law, they were both penalties.

My MoTM was Akanji. He was rapid, solid, he passed & controlled the ball well. Tonight was all about the result, & our tactical performance bore this out.

A special mention to Ederson too. Again I thought he was brilliant & gave us a high level of defensive confidence.

We're through to the semis to meet my favourites for the Champions League in Real. They didn't perform as well in the first leg, but were brilliant against a decent Chelsea yesterday.

Meeting them shouldn't be about revenge. It should be about us putting right what went wrong in the final 10 minutes against Madrid in last season's Semi, so well done all of us for reaching our 5th CL Semi.

Regardless, this is the pivotal week of the season for us. We've got Sheffield Utd on Saturday, so roll on that match & hopefully we'll do ourselves justice.

As I'm typing this, BT are interviewing Bernardo who's absolutely fuckin buzzin!

He said we've grown up & learned from previous errors that we can't dominate the ball for 90 minutes in the CL, & that we've had to learn to control a game by being solid defensively & taking our chances when they present themselves.

I suppose we'll get the chance to put that to the test against a brilliant Real, who are stronger & better in my mind than the Real of 2022.

However, it's 11 vs 11 over two legs & they've got as much to be worried about, as we have. Let's do this! )(

Solid job.

Ref did fantastic except for one incident. How Goretzka got away with putting Haaland off was a joke.

Always nice to see the German rags out!
