Bayern Munich (Friendly) | Post Match Thread

Really love the 4 2 3 1 formation. We look defensively solid and having kdb in the 10 behind a genuine striker is a joy to watch. Very good performance
Yes, it's really sorry, but it does mean playing Barnardo quite deep - it's a bit of a thankless role for someone with his skills.

To win the champions league we gonna need this defensive solidity. Thankfully Bernardo seems to be a selfless player so is happy to do the role. His skill set is perfect for if imo. Can dribble, pass, tenacious, great stamina and brilliant ball retention.

Bernardo is way better as a Kante-type midfielder than a creative midfielder imo. I think he's wasted on the wings actually.

I said it after the Club America game, and saw it again this morning, but Kev looks really sharp and as lean as seen him in a few years.

Bodes well if he can stay injury free.

Token report on bbc website now.
Managed to highlight how much Haaland cost us and how he needs to improve according to Pep in the first few sentences.
No mentioned of possession stats or how we absolutely battered the German rags for 80 mins.
Par for the course bbc. Well done.

But then he can step up and the formation becomes 4141. Jack (or Phil) Silva KDB Mahrez as the front 4

1-0 doesn’t really reflect the game,20 odd shots,a goal disallowed for offside, hit the post, should of had a pen.Bayern didn’t have a shot on target.I know it’s a pre season friendly, but I thought city looked pretty decent, the kids that played looked quality
Agreed mate, though they did have a decent goal chalked off.

Slightly concerned that we had 22 goal attempts but only scored once. How many minutes did Thor play?
Played the first half then Alvarez on for the second.

He also scored another that was correctly ruled out for offside if I'm remembering rightly and the late night didn't get me confused.

I've had a view for a while now that Bernardo has grown into the role that Modric has played for years with RM. Ball retention, vision, tenacity, space awareness, availability when others are in a tight spot and ball stealing (which used to be called tackling!). Agree he's wasted as a regular winger but that's where Pep puts you when you're still developing your knowledge of how he wants you to play (ref: Berny, Jack, Phil, even Raz and Gabby maybe) Really hope he stays to the end of his contract.
