Since when did the BBC axe shows just for not being particularly good?

Not a massive fan of Mrs Brown's Boys but when I've been (forced) watching it, it does have a few funny moments.

I think way they can choose to improvise on the fly is very well done at times and something a bit different to most shows.

Haha yeah sure mate.

The right were right, the BBC was frequently guilty of trying too hard. It was easy work to install fear of god in the board, and get management to pander to the brain dead head-in-the-sand brigade.

Country is getting fucked because people are scared that there might be truths out there they don't want to hear.

Utterly shameful that people think this is how you run a country - and I mean the voters. We've barely managed to tread water for the last two decades. We're just experts in sinking really slowly. Never mind! No point swimming, some people don't like the water in their eyes, and you can't tell them what to do. Free country, isn't it. Greatest in the world.

Mostly because we had the best fucking satire.

Old shows like Yes Minister, The New Statesman, The Thick of it etc were damn good political comedies.

The Mash Report wasn't good and deserves to be axed.

I definitely don't go looking for it but compared to the likes of X Factor, Strictly, that bloody midwife's show and worst of all Dr Who... etc on at Xmas Mrs Brown's Boys doesn't seem as bad in comparison.

It's a low bar these days.

Yep, agreed. Surprised it got 4 series. It's steaming horseshit and the format actually stifled the talent. Rachel Parris came across as an exaggerated cartoon without really being funny. But I'm sure on her own in a standup routine she would be much better.

Fair enough, it’s not for me but each to their own as I said. Tbh, the few times I’ve watched the Mash Report I’ve thought it’s not great either. If it’s being axed due to ratings or critical acclaim then fair enough. If it’s purely for political reasons then it should be a cause of concern for everyone.

There's a slew of similar programs and the hosts, presenters etc haven't been sacked or banned from being on shows on the BBC.

It's just one show being axed because it wasn't particularly good.

In your view - if you look into it across all platforms - particularly the important online market - it was very popular. But of course as we move back to the 1970's online won't be considered real - just those who watch something live on TV the night its aired - like it was with the Two Ronnies

The justification is that the show was crap. I had a few of the shows 'highlights' suggested to me on YouTube and I could never watch the whole thing.

True,it wont be missed by most.

Although,maybe they should have attempted to reinvent it before going straight for the chop......the first action should have been replacing the host,who is about as funny as Covid.
