BBC Director - "To Axe Left Wing Comedy"

The justification is that the show was crap. I had a few of the shows 'highlights' suggested to me on YouTube and I could never watch the whole thing.
Completely irrelevant, personally I find reality tv programmes mainly shit but wouldn’t have any desire for the Government banning them , if you can’t see the dangers of state censorship then maybe you need to open your eyes .

Nigel Farage comedy roadshow to replace it?

Various BBC bods ignoring the DG rules on Twitter claiming the decision was his.

To be honest it’s going to be the end of the line for a lot of this type of stuff

Trump gone, Brexit done and dusted.

Gonna need a new schtick

We have a clusterfuck of cunts in government who are ripe for lampooning. And royal family that think were living in the 1920's.

Satire is one of the truest art forms in the world. It will always find a way despite some so called powerful people having toddler tantrums because some of it is too close to home for them.

The Mash Report will follow Sunday Brunch and turn up on C4 so when the Last Leg finishes its season Mash will take over for a run.

I would have thought that sort of judgement is down to an individual - compare viewing figures with other comedy shows shown at the same time on the same channel that will tell you what the viewing public thought and as they pay the license fee it should for them to decide

I'm assuming the viewing figures were relatively poor. It had ran for four series so had a decent run. I don't think there's any sinister agenda at play it just wasn't a particularly good show and it's been axed.

There's a slew of similar programs and the hosts, presenters etc haven't been sacked or banned from being on shows on the BBC.

It's just one show being axed because it wasn't particularly good.

Agreed. Hopefully we get some more nuanced political comedy than just 'orange man bad' and 'England for the English' over and over again.

Haha yeah sure mate.

The right were right, the BBC was frequently guilty of trying too hard. It was easy work to install fear of god in the board, and get management to pander to the brain dead head-in-the-sand brigade.

Country is getting fucked because people are scared that there might be truths out there they don't want to hear.

Utterly shameful that people think this is how you run a country - and I mean the voters. We've barely managed to tread water for the last two decades. We're just experts in sinking really slowly. Never mind! No point swimming, some people don't like the water in their eyes, and you can't tell them what to do. Free country, isn't it. Greatest in the world.

Mostly because we had the best fucking satire.

Since when did the BBC axe shows just for not being particularly good?
