BBC licence fee

I've just read somewhere that there is a private members bill to decriminalise the license fee. If that gets accepted/debated etc; the Conservatives massive majority could see it happening.
Apologies for no links, this shitty laptop keeps having a fit of the vapours, if anyone can find it, and if I've read it right, they should be able to put it up.

There’s three of them

Just watching the First night of the Proms on BBC2 - Copeland and Beethoven - bet none of the outraged gammon from the other day have watched a single second.

I was listening to Beethoven the other day on the radio and they told a story about his love and support for Napoleon, despite the atrocities he committed in the name of empire. Just don't tell the wet snowflakes at the BBC otherwise we wont be hearing much of him on the proms.

The amount of Beethoven that has been played and continues to be played on the BBC shows how truly pathetic that statement is. Just trying to provoke comment to have a stupid argument. Childish really.

True, but when Beethoven heard that Napoleon declared himself "Emperor of all Europe" he ripped up a special symphony he'd written to commemorate Napoleon's 'work' as a champion of the revolution, so it's fair to say he wasn't a big supporter of him towards the end.

Tbf beethoven did scratch the dedication to napoleon from the cover of his 3rd symphony in protest at this.

They broadcast a lot of Wagner too - imagine the inner conflict being both lefty snowflake AND Nazi fascist. It could be seen as balance or just simply.....music.

I still wonder how many of the outraged on Tuesday watched tonight.

I doubt the outraged on either side of the rule Brittania debate have any interest in watching the proms at all and will now be looking for the next thing to be outraged about.

@Mëtal Bikër @Mazzarelli's Swiss Cheese

They did cover this and apparently there was a bit of nuance to the story of him removing the title but yeah he wasn't a fan of Napoleon at the end but the early days when he was in charge of the African colonies, he was something of an idol for Beethoven therefore I'm not sure how much longer his music can be compatible with BLM UK

Says a poster whose vocabulary consists almost entirely of a single word......gammon, used to gain a reaction.

Do kindly fuck off lol.
