BBC: lorry deliberately ploughs in to german christmas market

The only surprising thing about this horrific news is how long it's taken a Christmas market to be targeted.

Me and Mrs. P are going to Dresden market on Friday after flying out to Prague on Wednesday

Her brother who works in security (bomb squad) at Prague airport went ape-shit when she told him 2 weeks ago that we would be going, as he said the intelligence they were getting was that Christmas markets in Germany were a key target.

Make of that what you will

Mrs. P says we're still going anyway (going by train and have already booked on-line and got the tickets anyway)

People have lost their lives tonight and families torn apart.

It's not the time for the usual point scoring so show some respect and humility.

We say the Nazis as opposed to the Germans.

We say the IRA as opposed to the Catholics bombed Manchester.

Some do some dont, I have heard plenty refer to the IRA as the Irish or the Paddies and so on....not with the intention of accusing every Irishman of being distinctly iffy when it came to a good game of pass the parcel.

I have heard many tell of fighting the British too....I really do think once again this touchy attitude about how or what people say is part of the problem.

5 Live going straight to reporting this after the football if anyone wants to listen to something other than Sky News.

my mother in law who's 87 refers to them as 'THE GERMANS' which i think most of the old school does, we have moved on in time and i suppose we have to scale it down to the Nazi's so not to offend

What about offending the very many Germans who were simply normal soldiers sailors or airman who were not Nazi?
