I just think the producers specifically want fans who have a bit of a clue not the usual media fan spokespeople like Dave, Kevin, Gary etc. So Andy Green (the financial blogger andersred) isn't going to be there for them and he's a media regular.
At the end of the day, nothing is going to be decided by what anyone says in a BBC studio.
Its nice to see some people have such little faith in us Col ;-)
Just so that there's no doubt... I have total faith in the guys (the ones I know are attending, obviously don't know who the others are) appearing on the debate and believe them all to be knowledgeable, passionate Blues. They will do the Club proud and I have a lot of time for all of them.
I fully understand how this has all come about and want us all to support the guys who are giving their views tomorrow. They have done nothing wrong; there's no agenda; and it's in all our interests to ensure we give them whatever help and support we can.
Personally, I've only been asked twice by the BBC ever to comment on football (both times about 'Manchester' rather than a specific team), plus I made a brief appearance on Blue Tuesday during its first series and answered a call from Radio Manchester about England internationals one Saturday when I was on the way to a match, so I'm not a regular media figure which is, I guess, why they didn't consider me this time. The guy from the BBC apologised and said I wasn't on their contacts list and they simply didn't know me. It's not an issue at all to me.
It also means I can get on with writing my next book and my programme articles. Years ago I was interviewed by Radio Manchester and Radio 5 (John Inverdale) about a book, but apart from the couple of calls from BBC World Service & Radio 5 Live mentioned I haven't been involved in this sort of thing before, so it's all understandable.
Dave, by the way, told me he'd been asked but can't make it.
A date for your diaries... For anyone interested, I will be hosting a debate on Manchester football at the end of Feb/beginning of March (in Manchester Town Hall) and will be performing a talk/lecture that same week. It will all happen around the time of the Bolton game. It would be worth attending.
Thanks as always.
