BBC Radio 5 live on Saturday - Soundbites needed

I'm afraid some of you are talking some real tosh , especially childish nonsense about agendas. The producers do nothing more than make a few phone calls and try to rustle a few people up. Their only agenda is to make as lively and interesting show as possible, and therefore save their jobs.

Expect much of the show to be debate about whether city's success has been 'bought' and is therefore hollow. I would expect pb in particular to be countering that with facts about how much united invested in the 90s and where it came from .

Agendas. Hilarious .

"hi, is that fanzine Danny ? Yeah mate, we are looking for a couple of real dicks to represent city on a show. Hopefully the united geniuses we've got will make you look a right tit. The orders come from the very top, maybe even government . You up for it? Get a couple of other tools and I'll chuck you a pint in"

there we go again, another dig.

only tosh is that post.

with Gary's knowledge and books he'd be one of the first you would approach, anyone who doesn't either hasn't done their research or has an agenda ie. they don't want some intelligent City bloke putting down every inaccurate jibe someone makes against the club.

If it's the former, it's still not really excusable from the BBC.

I just think the producers specifically want fans who have a bit of a clue not the usual media fan spokespeople like Dave, Kevin, Gary etc. So Andy Green (the financial blogger andersred) isn't going to be there for them and he's a media regular.

At the end of the day, nothing is going to be decided by what anyone says in a BBC studio.

How can Gary James not be considered a media contact for City supporters? Madness.
I agree with our fans needing a stronger voice out there, especially when you can't open a newspaper or football magazine these days without being subjected to the graceless, charmless, smug, snide sniping and fake myth-building of the gormless cockwomble Andy Mitten, aka 'Oddbod Junior'.
The fact the MEN pays this self-righteous goon (he moved to Barcelona so he knows everything about everything) for regular columns without balance on the
City side speaks volumes. Gary's wonderfully researched articles in the days approaching the semi final were a rare treat by comparison (cue the MEN fan club rushing to defend the honour of his favourite paper and its totally unbiased sports editor).
A word of warning though, lads. Forming some sort of semi-formal group to speak for City fans will leave you open to accusations of self-serving elitism and of creating a clique of unrepresentative, middle class old men. I'm sure that's not your intention at all, but it could be misinterpreted that way. Look at the grief the Blue Alliance lads and, before that, Bluewatch have had on here just for creating semi-formal 'atmosphere groups'.
Seems that just lately, some blues are happier turning on their own than enjoying the ride.

A very good post and as usual you talk a lot of sense.

As much as it pains me to agree with Didsbury Dave
as we have differing opinions on Media bias etc I am regularly contacted by the BBC to do city related things and the Salford riots! Unfortunately most have clashed with work/family and the reality is that the BBC have a list of contacts not an agenda in this instance.

Its nice to see some people have such little faith in us Col ;-)

Yes, fbloke, you and PB have clearly been recruited as part of the Illuminati Agenda against Manchester City. This programmme will be beamed around the world including Abu Dhabi. I'd make sure you don't make too much of a hash of it, or The Shiekh may decide not to bother any more.

Now I'm scared.

What if I were to drop an aitch or two would I be in trouble?

Shit, I'd better not refer to the Sheikh as 'that arab bloke' as well then?

And the joke about Roberto being so defensive when you consider the Italian attitudes to war will have to go.

Jesus, I'm in trouble now........

At least PB is keeping the flag flying for the Cabal.

What more do you lot want?

I agree with Didsbury Dave. The BBC got hold of some numbers and did a quick ring around to get hold of some fans, no real agenda set. I asked if they wanted some background on myself and my mate. All they wanted to know is our names, that we're City fans and prepared to talk; as simple as that. I'm sure the 5 of us have plenty of views and opinions which some will agree with and some wont.

Personally, I think Gary James is to good to waste in a debate that includes 10+ people with little time for each individual to have a full say. I reckon he could hold his own by himself or with his rag counterpart if there is one.

Ta for all the ammo provided on Bluemoon which should have included 'Basil Brush United Aside'
