Beatles documentary “Get Back”

how famous were they when this was recorded?

Absolutely gigantic. 15 UK no.1 singles (and 18 in the States I think) and 11 UK no.1 studio albums under their belts at this point, with 2 more still to come in each category.

just watching the people in the background fascinates me, there is one bloke in a blue jumper talking to the other people like he is waiting for a bus, at one point they are facing the other way just chatting, then some check there watches and walk off while the beatles are half way through there song?

Most of the people on the rooftop are sound engineers, runners and friends and relatives of the band, all of whom would have heard the songs multiple times in the preceding 3 weeks

where was it recorded, cheers.

On the roof their Apple headquarters in Savile Row, Mayfair

It's decent to play - I don't think I used to like it as it was a bit longwinded and Blind Faithy (I e. Too Clapton).

McCartney has probably never looked cooler than in this documentary with his slicked back hair and beard.

But what the fuck is up with George Harrison?

'Can you see if they do any cheese sauce to go with the cauliflower' - fuck off!!!!!! :-)
Theres a track on the 50th anniversary release (possibly not in the doc) where George is bigging up the pleasures of Marmite

Interesting.

Interesting. The top slots are much as expected. I would have permed 5 from Hey Jude, Tomorrow Never Knows, In My Life, All You Need Is Love, She Loves You, Strawberry Fields, She's Leaving Home or Something for my own personal top 5.

Some real surprises down the bottom though. I Me Mine (167), This Boy (161), There's A Place (157), She's A Woman (156), If I Needed Someone (134), You Can't Do That (131)?!

If I had to pick some favourite Beatles curios (ie. not the well known singles), I'd have included Long Long Long, There's A Place, For No-One, I'm Looking Through You, Think For Yourself, It's All Too Much, Golden Slumbers & And Your Bird Can Sing.

You could play around with it all day though, there's so many fantastic choices

Don’t Pass Me By is 50 slots higher than I’ll Be Back? I’m out...

19 number 1 albums in the USA.

Let that sink in ! 19

Finally finished watching all three episodes and I have to say what a privilege it was just to see this! Easily one of the very best things I've ever seen or ever will see.
My thoughts entirely mate.. I feel it is a privilege to watch these guys actually making an album, has to be another Beatle first.
I watched it twice now and the second time was better.
My two obsessions since the age of 14, 55 years ago, have been Manchester City and The Beatles.

I truly find it baffling that I still listen to the same music I loved at 14.

I think it’s because there is so much variation in their music. There’s something for every mood.

If you fancy a bit of pop’n’roll, rock’n’roll, beat music, a bit of psychedelic pop, avant garde, ska, psych rock, heavy rock, funk, soul, electronic, Indian music, classical… love songs, fun songs, songs about mental stress, songs to trip out to… it’s all there in The Beatles, with three different writers and four different multi-instrumentalists ranging around 50 instruments across their music.
