Beatles documentary “Get Back”

Having COVID for the last 10 days has allowed me plenty of time to digest this.
I do think it is a masterful piece of work. Without commentary for 8hrs plus it tells its own story, including the dragged out bits. The characters beyond the Beatles are given space to shine (or not in some cases).
A couple of observations. Never saw Linda as beautiful before this.
How shabby are the clothes they are wearing, often for days at a time...?
John Lennon is such a passive player in the group dynamic
George wanted out ... He was fed up with being an also man in the band...
Some of the hangers on made a lot of money out of contributing nothing and talking platitudes... How did the guys put up with such low level (posh) input...did they have an inferiority complex? (Epstein and Martin were also 'posh' - makes you wonder)

Actually Dig A Pony riff isnt that simple
It's decent to play - I don't think I used to like it as it was a bit longwinded and Blind Faithy (I e. Too Clapton).

McCartney has probably never looked cooler than in this documentary with his slicked back hair and beard.

But what the fuck is up with George Harrison?

'Can you see if they do any cheese sauce to go with the cauliflower' - fuck off!!!!!! :-)

Can you elaborate on that mate, I cant work out what you mean.

I think George was just being George. Passive aggressive, a bit whiney, he quit obviously but they all went to his house on a Sunday to persuade him to come back. I really think he hated Paul.
John used George as lead guitarist on his later Imagine album (which was also filmed)

I agree about Paul, he looked very good with hair better than @Magicpole Paul always knew how to dress well.

From the footage I would have thought it be JL he had an issue with (he appeared to pat him on the head more than the others).

Still sceptical on the cutting of it though to be fair........

Interesting you say that about George hating Paul; in the excellent biography ‘Behind The Locked Door’ he was quoted as being really dismissive of Paul (and his music) especially after they split. Also in the Anthology footage where the 3 of them are in George’s garden he seems irritated by Paul and ignores him when Paul asks him a question.
Paul has admitted to his own failing of talking down to George right from when they met as kids because of the age difference.

Yoko is very annoying, not sure why she needed to be there in the rehersals constantly but it didn't seem to bother the rest of the band. Possibly because they were being filmed?

That said, there was that weird Buddhist friend of George Harrison's sat in the corner.

spot on

also would like to add that billy preston was magic on the electric piano and the sound with macca and john's voice on don't let me down. and let it be. sends the shivers down your back and hairs on your body to stand up

Just watched the third and last episode.
The way John and Paul obviously look to each other when performing in even the last days of the band, is a joy to watch.
There was nobody quite like them really.

Brilliant documentary.
A real shame they split, massive shame. Ive learned lately though that it wasnt Yoko who split them up, it was Allen Klein, who John wanted as manager. Paul didnt.
Years later, John admitted Paul was right about Klein.
