Beatles documentary “Get Back”

A few observations .... Paul has an incredible ear.... George may be the most tasteful player ever.
Ringo was the perfect drummer for them, I just can't imagine him and Barbara Bach shagging

Edit... I thought George Martin would have been heavily involved...id always thought as the music got more complicated and the progressions more wacky he had more of a hand in it

GM still in suit and tie..

Watched first two episodes yesterday.
Love it.
Jackson is absolutely brilliant for putting this together.
First time in my life I've ever felt sorry for Paul, but there you go. So incredibly talented and driven.
Ringo was lovely.
George was a prickly fucker at this point, but im not surprised.
John was just John.....still a twat, still an acerbic gobshite, but wow what a talent.

Finished watching it last night, absolutely superb.

Peter Jackson made a superb documentary out of the footage. It was just amazing to watch songs like Get Back and the Long And Winding Road bring created.

I thought you could see the cracks starting to appear though. Harrison clearly isn't happy with the musical direction. He seemed a bit fractious at times and probably needed to go and do his thing. He's clearly really into Eastern Ideas and wants more input into songs. If he'd not been in The Beatles, he'd have had a fine career anyway. Lennon is distracted by Yoko and McCartney is on the road to becoming a family man. Ringo seems to just hold it all together.

You could see the spark at times with Lennon and McCartney. It was brilliant to watch and amazing to see it. I thought McCartney came across very well - for someone who's not been trained, his ear for music and melody is the equal of any musician, in any era.

As an aside, not many class Let It Be as a great album - I've never heard anyone say it's a great album. They were that good that even an album with Two Of Us, Dig A Pony, Across The Universe, Let It Be, The Long And Winding Road and Get Back isn't regarded as some of their best work. Any other band who made that album would be lauded for it. It's also astonishing they wrote many of these songs around the same time as Abbey Rd.

The gig on the roof was just superb wasn't it - a brilliant idea and great to see how it panned out on the day.

great documentary even if you don't like the beatles
the stand out for me was the Lennon and McCartney thing and paul being the major and boss of the band

sad that it ended like it did and the lads never got to play together again live after the roof top gig
but nobody can question the work they did for the music scene of the 60s and early 70s

funny that paul questioned that in 50 years time people will be saying the beatles broke up because of yoyo sitting on george amp hahahaah

A band writing and recording their next album while being filmed in the studio. Then taking it up to the roof to perform it.
I'm assuming this is another first by The Beatles 51 years ago did anybody do it before them.?

I watched it again and realised Paul was writing The Backseat of my Car but the song wasn't developed enough for the album. He later released it as a single. Beautiful song.

As a long time part time muso I'm enthralled by this thing.
Who knew John and George had new Fender twin amps.
