I know he is supposedly giving his salary to charity but I get a sneaky feeling that it will help his chance at getting a knighthood. He certainly hob-knobs around the royals and I guess his wife would love the title.
There are a heck of a lot of players donate to charity without all this fuss.

If you are donating to charity out of the goodness of your heart then you wouldn't need the world to know about it. It's of course an amazing gesture and fair play to him for doing it but making it so public and basically an announcement how great he i takes the shine of and says he is doing it to promote himself somewhat.
