Ok they were better players, my point was when England needed someone Beckham often stepped up, even if it was just a succession of free kicks. Maybe its an age thing but Beckham has never really bothered me, especially after the public falling out with fergie.

In fairness I don't think he's done much wrong but I might have overstated just what he's done right. But without him you'd have Rooney or Terry or Rio as the face of English football and I'd be pretty much ashamed.
