The reason he did that u-turn on the Galaxy wasn't cos he wanted to get to 100 caps, he'd already surpassed that number. Obviously when he moved to LA he thought his England career was dead and buried, now he wants to ensure his chances of going to the World Cup. Can't blame him for that.
Yes, it's a bit unfortunate the way he's dumped the Galaxy so unceremoniously, but I don't blame him for wanting to play in another World Cup? Who wouldn't?
And yes, his goal from the halfway line was better than Bentley's. Higher degree of technique/difficulty involved imo. Mind you, some of Alonso's have been pretty special, and he seems to do them so often.
"Unfortunate" is when you drop your pint.
"Being a twat" is signing a huge contract in an attempt to "break" America as a "showbiz" couple-then realising that you're a tiny fish in a very big pond...then bailing out on your employer with a "footballing" excuse and spinning the UK media to justify it.
If he was that arsed about playing for England then why not return to the PL for a couple of seasons after leaving Madrid
then go to the MLS?
He wanted the cake aswell as eating it and it failed big time.
A ten year old could've told him that playing in the equivalent of the English third division would scupper his chances of playing in the world cup....why couldn't
he see it?
Sorry-he's a twat.
