Just wondering if anyone has any experience of these little sods. We bought a caravan privately in NZ (not used it yet but it is at our daughters and they have once) and apparently it is infested with bedbugs. They used the van once and got them into their home, probably in the bedding. How easy is it to get rid of them. She has 'bombed' the van 3 times now but not sure if that has got rid of them. We are due to go over in 10 days time and stay in it for 5 weeks. A bit apprehensive as we don't want to bring them back here. Anyone had any experience or know someone who has.

Yep, I was a pest controller for a few years and had dealings with these little sods. They're notoriously difficult to eradicate if treated once and not by a professional. If it's in a motor home then I would recommend
1. that the mattress is disposed of
2. A fogging treatment is required using a residual or micro encapsulated insecticide.
3. All carpets are pulled back from the wall floor junction and treated with insecticide
4. All carpets are treated with a residual insecticide.

I would recommend at least 3 treatments by a professional pest controller. I used to carry out three or four treatments with a seven day gap in between so used to take 3 to 4 weeks to complete.

Unlike you I have absolutely no professional qualifications or any experience whatsoever in this however I don’t see my lack of suitable skills as a barrier to providing quality advice on BM. I’d just torch it and claim off the insurance.
