People need to stop being reactionary idiots. Judge Hughes on the season. Those who were staunchly against him were all apologetic after the wins against Arsenal and Chelsea, now we've dropped a couple of places mainly out of our control everyone's panicking again. Grow up. Marathon, not a sprint.
I havent changed my opinion thanks. I dont hate or despise Hughes as a manager, and the whole argument of stability is something I can understand as a City fan. Hes proved his worth in the market throughout his managerial career as well as his performances with Blackburn and Wales. Is he a world class manager in my opinion though, no. By the same token, for how much we all loved Dunney (and im glad to see hes doing well on a personal note) he also isnt a world class defender, and if you're aspiring to be the best team in the league, then you need the best players, hence why most people accepted that it was time for him (and us) to move on.
Picture Robinho, Tevez and Adebayor walking into training, do you really think these players are going to be inspired by a manager like Hughes, who has the charisma and personality of a tree. He was a great player yes, and that counts for something, but these players have been man-managed by some of the best managers in the world, of which Hughes isnt.
You may well say that you have to start somewhere as a manager and Fergiescum is the prime example, but ADUG havent been playing about with the likes of Dunnie, this "project" has been in overdrive from day 1, and to be the best, you need the best.
Im not a Hughes hater, im a realist. Football is brutal these days, and we need a Mourinho.
