I wasn't born at the time so I don't know exactly what went on but the manager is the boss as far as I am concerned. Players deliberately trying to undermine him should be shipped out of the club immediately. It is unprofessional and ultimately not in the best interests of the club. Players play and managers manage. That is how it should always be.

it appears you too think you are being clever but you've just slipped on a metaphorical banana skin. i'll explain again. this has NOTHING WHATSOEVER to do with the players involved in either era. this is about players NOT LIKING a manager, not responding to his methods and ultimately getting him removed from office. the fact that the likes of bell, lee and summerbee are so revered just proves that you are all HYPOCRITES! i.e. it was alright for them to do it.
another question. just how many more defeats are you all prepared to take before you seriously start to think "oh fuck! perhaps he isn't the answer after all"?

Pretty crap analogy - these boys were City legends, genuinely cared about the club and had earnt the right to have an opinion by being PROVEN winners.
As for this current crop their not fit to lace their Boots, in most cases have achieved next to nothing in their careers and have no loyalty to our club. Can't see Elano hosting guests in the legends lounge or trying to buy the club to save it from meltdown in ten years.
Sad thing is I think Elano is a genuinely gifted player. He should get his head down and prove it.

So let me get this straight; those players underperformed & finally got the manager removed. The manager built a team elsewhere that eventually went on to win the league & the European Cup. A few of the players left behind won one League Cup, many never won another trophy. City then ended up winning just the one trophy during the next 30 odd years & being up & down the leagues like a yo yo.
So in a nutshell, after that day we won 1 trophy & went fron being one of Europes top clubs to playing Macclesfield as a local derby.
I wouldn't want to be harsh here but I wouldn't say it's the best advert for player power I've ever seen?

Funny how Summerbee still thinks Hughes is the man for the job then! And yes I was around when they played and never missed a game. The difference was they played with heart and loved the club and are still supporting them. You think Elano will be in 30 years time!

No the idiot chairman that gave in to them is responsible. Once players get that much power the club is knackered until you get rid of most of the culprits. If they drive Hughes out, that's what the next manager will do. He'll find out who's behind it & sell them so that they don't try to do the same to him, which they will, if he doesn't pick them.
