Its been reported that Craig accepted a 50 per cent cut to make the deal to Liverpool happen.

Whilst we all know these figures are often off the mark its stating the obvious that the only way the likes of Bellamy , SWP , RSC , Nedum, Bridge , Ade etc were able and will be able to be removed off our books is for them to accept massive pay cuts with their new club.

No matter what you think of Bellamy he is no mercenary and would have seen out his contract and fought like SWP for their place in the side knowing Mancini didn't want them anymore and had no qualms in us taking major hits to our bottom line to get them out of Eastlands.

In fact we all know that despite their poor relationship Bellamy would have played on reduced wages at Eastlands in order to stay ala SWP even though nothing they could have done in the " reserves" or on international duty would have any impact on management to consider them for the squad of 25 consideration.

It will be no different with Ade , RSC , Bridge and Nedum and we need to bear this in mind in future for a number of reasons despite the tired and quite absurd old argument that the owners don't care a hoot because its pocket money for them in the overall scheme of things.

Re: Bellamy takes 50 per cent pay cut

You are forgetting his pay-off from City together with his new salary from Liverpool and his pay-off I would bet he is on more than he would have been if he had stayed He is a mecenary and Im so glad that he no longer blights this club

Re: Bellamy takes 50 per cent pay cut

So we didnt give him the £4 million pay off he wanted then
Im sure its easy to take a pay cut when you get a lump sum of hush money

I don't believe it

So 25 years at £40k per week = £52,000,000

The lad's not stupid

Even 3 years gives him another £2 million if he is on half of what his contract was with us

Re: Bellamy takes 50 per cent pay cut

2 year deal according to all the reports and I agree he will struggle to see out the two years if past history is any guide.

Re: Bellamy takes 50 per cent pay cut

Rubbish, Bellamy quite clearly stated he would rather stay in the reserves and take his wage than take a pay cut so that he could continue to fund his Craig Bellamy Foundation in Sierra Leone.

If thats the case then that's exactly what he would have done ala Wayne Bridge because unless he was in breach of his contract it would have been more difficult to sack him without paying out more money.

Now think about how they're going to suffer now Bellamy's only on 45k a week and has now not got a pot to piss in.

Oh god how will he survive, i mean i bet half of his City wage went to Africa every week, lol

-- Thu Sep 01, 2011 9:13 am --

Did he go for free or did we get money?

It cost us in pay off money

Which is why you wont hear Bellamy say anything bad about the club

Whatever he's on,whatever he's done or not...I thought he was a good signing and never let us down when he played.

The club are gradually moving the players on like Bellamy who got us to "the next level." It was always going to happen, and there would always be some "financial fallout" due to the nature of
the speed of development at City.

I for one wish him well.

I thought he was apoor signing when Hughes went and bought him. Bellamy won me over with his attitude on the field and now that he's left, I again think Hughes should have done better with the £13m + wages Bellamy cost

Taking us to the next level!!
Well with Bellamy under Hughes, we finished 10th and then he hardly played under Mancini when we finished 5th. Last season, did he play for us at all?
