The only thing of note in the whole interview that matters to me is when he says he wants to play for the club.
Assuming that is true the rest doesn't really matter.
I thought that too. It seems like with the Bellamy & Given interviews, they're both hoping to generate bids from other clubs, but without burning any bridges at City.
Problem is, we have a large squad who do a lot of interviews ... and if Balotelli arrives, this will only increase. Between their agents, and a media, there are just too many opportunities for unsettling stories to come out.
So the players have to be handled, and most of this of this is communicating properly with them. Bellamy was the second best player at the club last season. So you've got to talk to him, tell him what's going on, or at least tell him he has to leave. You've can't just ignore him, and the importance of all those performances, it sets a terrible example to younger players.
I was always concerned that whilst he's tactically better, Mancini isn't that much more experienced than Hughes. One of Hughes' biggest faults was that he had favourites, and didn't have the people skills to handle certain squad members. He couldn't handle players putting any pressure on him, so he just ignored them. And now it seems like Mancini is doing exactly the same thing ...
Last week there was story in the press about Ade & Juventus, and the club killed it. With Given, Bellamy, Ireland ... nothing at all from the club. If they're leaving, they should be told. They ALL deserve it.
Exciting times, no doubt, but things like this make me wonder if Mancini really is as impressive a fella as we'd all like to think.
