Why do we have to have world class players in every position ?Chilwell is decent but not world class. He's a more attacking minded version of Zinchenko but still too slow and not athletic enough. Unless this is what Pep wants. Chilwell is better in the final 3rd than Zinchenko though.
But if Stones goes to Newcastle, we need English players. We can rip off Newcastle and get 50 mil easy for Stones. We would still massively overpay but it would feel like 30mil signing coz of Stones' departure and not 80.
If you're prepared to spend 85 mil on a player, I believe he should be close to being world class. Chilwell is decent but at the same time yet another overhyped English player. Dele Alli's market value is around 100mil and he's bang average but he's got 100mil price tag coz he's English.
I don't see how Angelino is much worse than Chilwell. Mahrez teared Chilwell to shreds when we played Leicester at home and won 3-1. 85 mil for slight upgrade on Zinchenko.
Leicester proved last summer that its either their price or fuck off. They wanted £85m for Maguire originally and sold him for £80m.
Our execs arent that stupid thankfully.
85m is Leicesters valuation, its not like theres no negotiation. I really like Chilwell and its obvious Pep does too - after all we wanted him last year. Sam Lee has said there was a deal basically struck but City pulled out due to no interest in Mendy. I think hes pretty bloody good but theres room for development and improvement. Depends what City are looking for to be fair
Sam Lee knows less than the square root of fuck all and should never be cited as a source on here mate.
I wouldn't believe him if he told me his name was Sam Lee.
