Accept it hasn’t worked out and moved on. Can’t afford to keep spending huge amounts of money and carrying these crap defenders. Next defender purchases have to be spot on

He can't be moved on because no team would want him. I hope we don't go down the route of spending a ridiculous sum on a fullback.

Yesterday he had one job, don't show Pepe his stronger foot and push him wide. Literally every defender in the league knows this by now. Mendy allows him time and space to make a simple cross with no pressure. Terrible, terrible player.

The role of full backs has changed in recent years with most top managers/coach's looking at the offensive side of a fb's game eg Robertson and TAA. When we bought Mendy he was widely regarded as one of the best attacking lb's in Europe. Unfortunately, injuries have taken their toll and attacking wise whilst he is a decent player his defensive defiencies are apparent. Personally, I would keep Mendy but buy a new LB who can offer proper competition and not rely on Zinchenko.

Should we blame Mendy for being unable to simply mark Aubameyang? He failed the offside trap but Walker criminally gave away both their goals because he was sleeping. Mendy wasn’t the reason why we lost yesterday.

this guy is a complete liability. I honestly think you'd struggle to find a more one footed, awkward, immobile, defensively hopeless full back in the league.
Zinchenko runs him close for me. We want to win the champions league but don't have a decent LB. Wow thats a sobering thought

For all the criticism, I would be interested to see how many times we have conceded through the opposition ripping us apart down his side. He made a clear fuck up against Chelsea but that was more communication issues. I don’t remember too many times where a right winger has clearly had the better of him, or where balls in-between him and Laporte rip us apart. I think we have far more issues in that sense on the right side, even though we have Kyle “he’s a great defender, strong, fast and has dead good recovery” Walker over there.

What fee can we get for him? I dont think top clubs in Europe would splash the cash on him they most likely have better LB than Mendy.
PSg would not touch him, while Lyon, Marseille dont really have the financials imo to bring him home.

Can we get 20m for him? Would the clubs that would pay this be able to afford his salary?

After years of Clichy and Kolarov, we spent big on LB and its a flop.

Seriously I would cash in on Mendy+Zinchenko and get a good LB and have Angelino as a back up who is pretty good at Leipzig and knows how to play LB.
On Zinchenko we can make a profit for sure, 20m maybe we get for him, but Mendy will a be a financial loss either way. Sell him now instead when he has 1 year left on contract only (next summer).

I would keep him as a squad player for next season but not going to see his best in a City shirt

I’m starting to get the impression that you are not a Walker fan.

first goal yesterday came from his side an his inability to close the man down with the ball and stop him putting a cross in.

He also played them onside for the second.

thats just yesterdays game
