Let's hope he comes back just as strong as he was this time last week.Technically you don't have to have surgery - there are non-invasive treatments involving intense physical therapy. And apparently, there are Hall of Fame NFL players without an ACL in one knee. But it is very risky - the ACL provides stability to the knee, and you risk an even more serious injury like meniscus damage if you opt for no surgery. If you do have surgery, it is normally 3 months before you can start any sort of running and 6 months before high stress sports can even be considered.
