Technically you don't have to have surgery - there are non-invasive treatments involving intense physical therapy. And apparently, there are Hall of Fame NFL players without an ACL in one knee. But it is very risky - the ACL provides stability to the knee, and you risk an even more serious injury like meniscus damage if you opt for no surgery. If you do have surgery, it is normally 3 months before you can start any sort of running and 6 months before high stress sports can even be considered.
Ah well, no use moaning about it then. Let's hope he comes back just as strong as he was this time last week.

Yup - our injury curse strikes again. The only silver lining is Danilo and Delph are possibly better defensively, which might be important in big games like this weekend. If we (pray!) have no more major injuries, our squad is still strong enough to win at least the League.

Very bad injury for a forward or fullback - as I've read, it eventually affects acceleration/pace of an athlete in 50% of cases.

Benjamin will undergo surgery tomorrow in Barcelona, and everyone at the Club wishes him a speedy recovery.

mancity.com will bring you regular updates regarding his rehabilitation

MRI's are not as accurate as scopes to diagnose ACL ruptures.
Usually they get done first, but the scope will be done.
Sorry mate, not these days. He'll be having a scope to repair pretty soon, not confirm diagnosis. Bit of a bastard thing to happen in either case. Hopefully he's a speedy healer. Fingers crossed he doesn't rush himself back for WC

Sad for the player, hopefully he'll come back and be the player we all looked forward to seeing week in week out.

The one player in the entire squad you'd pick last to get that injury given our lack of cover there. That's the majority of the season if not the entirety of it he's missing. There's not just the recovery but the strengthening and conditioning and then match sharpness to regain after so long out., he won't be rushed back, see you next season Mendy.

There's also going to be question marks about him coming back the same player from this. He's highly explosive and you're far more likely to get a repeat injury once you've done it once. Lets hope he can get himself back to normal however long it takes.

Txiki needs to be getting a replacement lined up now for the 1st January, Big fan of Delph but we're not winning the league without a recognised left back. Crazy situation to be in and always likely to bite us in the arse taking that kind of risk on the fitness of one player.
