Not entirely true that we failed to prepare. Danilo was purchased because he can play either side and I reckon they were working on Delph as possible LB cover last season. I'm sure Fab made a cryptic comment last year that implied a different role for him (in addition to his usual midfield one). However, it does look like both the areas we were potentially vulnerable in the event of injury have become problems.

Mendy is a loss but I think either Danilo and Delph can be a decent back up. As long as we can produce the good football as a team we should be ok. We are not a one man team anymore.

Injuries do happen, true. But how many games has he played for us? How many did Jesus play before doing his metatarsal? It does my head in.

If we were to ever sign Messi for £300m, he'd play 2 games never to play again knowing our luck.
