Benjamin Mendy - City lose case and Mendy awarded £11m in back pay (p168)

Paid the majority - not all which is quite usual in a breach of contract claim. Means unsurprisingly that the Court found that he contributed to the breach via his actions and behaviour. Wonder what the % payment of the total claim was. Could be 51%

Shameless ****. As if the embarrassment he had caused the club - not just from the allegations but from the parties he’s admitted to having during Covid - wasn’t enough but he was also fucking wank.

The best (and I use that term loosely) thing he did was come up with shark team. And even that was cringe as fuck. Nothing more than a glorified cheerleader.

Well. He’s a lot more than that, actually.

Great, when it pours it pours.

I can see both sides to this dispute. Personally tho the player in question had solely created this mess. He acted the way he wanted in those parties. Nothing to do with city.

City acted how they acted and now a court has decided that poor Mendy should get his money back.

Another episode of greed and sleaze exposed.

I hope we sue him for loss of a transfer fee due to his behaviour.
A court decided he was innocent too? Only fair he got lost earnings no?

A very complex case to judge I would imagine. Did Mendy come across as an unprofessional ****? Yes. The facts are though that he ended up unable to play football and his career ruined by being falsely accused of rape. Two trials found him not guilty so we have to accept that. I'm sure future players contracts will end up a little tighter as a result of this case.

I was surprised City didn't settle this. The truth is that employment law is pretty rigid. With cases like this the general protocol is people are suspended on full pay pending the outcome of the case. If they are cleared they get paid up. Mendy behaved like a scumbag repeatedly breaking lockdown rules but was charged and subsequently cleared of rape. I am assuming the only complication would have been whether he was due extra payments for things like win bonuses and appearance fees. He was always going to get paid his basic salary.

I thought this from the off once he was cleared in court. Let's be honest if it was one of us in whatever job we do or did we'd want our wages, rightly arguing we were innocent and shouldn't be financially punished for not being able to do our jobs, due to being falsely accused of something.

Presumably as we thought we didn't need to pay him, we also maybe couldn't fine him for unprofessional behaviour during that time?

Now he's been paid, can we fine him for every indiscretion that he made?
