Benjamin Mendy - City lose case and Mendy awarded £11m in back pay (p168)

He was still locked up and unavailable to play. As I v said, no crime has formally been committed and he is legally allowed to claim the pay withheld.

I am looking at it from the clubs perspective. Why should we not receive a transfer fee and why should our good name get tarnished?
But you aren't looking at it from Mendy's point of view who is the only person who has been wronged really? His reputation is tarnished, his career ruined with years of lost pay. Who are we trying to get this lost transfer fee from? I would imagine the chances of winning a claim like that is next to impossible with so many variables involved.

The most important lesson must be, how do we improve due diligence when forking out huge sums (Mendy £50m+) on players. Clearly a deeply flawed person, why did we not have any idea Mendy was a ticking time bomb. There a risky types eg Mendy, Mario, Tevez and now Jack who off field are/were not always professional. In most cases they cause serious issues down the road. It's a really fine balance to make the right judgement but it's something else we have got to improve. Dare I mention, Ronaldo who was obsessive as an athlete but still ended up settling out of court for alleged rape. Time to draw a line and move.
We have made one our captain so we wont be changing our approach any time soon.

Particularly as he arranged sex parties whilst on bail for alleged rape.

Imagine if it had emerged we were still paying him whilst he was on remand!
and then gets accused of another rape at the said sex party.

This was all to do with what the contract said. I had a feeling he had a case and that's been proven now. City just need to pay him had forget about it.

Not sure what all the bouncing around on here is about.

Was found not guilty.

We lawfully withheld his wages and no doubt put them too one side for later.

Now he can have some of them.

It’s not even a story.

The intricacies of a rape case is not something to get into on here at all. We all know how hard it is to prove such a case.

I don’t care about Mendy. His behaviour brought about this situation.

Wronged? Haha come on.

If he can charge us we should be able to charge him.

Being a shagger isn't illegal. Just ask our captain. Women trying to take advantage of footballers (not for the first time) is the real (possible) crime here. He has been wronged. He got his career and wages taken away, wrongly. We provided no support and treated him as guilty until proven otherwise. He is clearly right and that is why he has been paid out. Good luck charging him, there is a reason why we won't do it. Because it is fucking stupid.

Wank thinking? So even though he has been found not guilty you are still insinuating he was. Typical woman.
Yes he has been found 'not guilty", It's such a tough crime to get found guilty of as you often see the conviction rate is so low, I think 2020/21 was the highest ever recored for reported rape crimes with over 60k, Of that reported rape crimes only over 5k got convicted.

I don't believe for one minute that over 50k of those women made up that they were raped. I understand there is women who have falsely accused men in the past but a large amount of men do get away with rape that they have committed.
