Not that funny when it probably cost £10m more than we wanted, I'm sure that if we offered Monaco another £10m today Mendy would be in the bag too.
I'm one of those who doesn't care what we spend as long as we get our targets, though it could mean we get one less player than we had hoped for in the long run.

Yeah, would make more sense to get it done in time for the flight to the US. Guess it depends how quickly we finalise the deal with Monaco. Looks like when not if though.

If I was guessing I would have said we would be prepared to wait longer had we got Alves but Pep wants a squad he can work with in America and having no full backs meant we couldn't prepare properly for the beginning of the season which meant we were prepared to pay a bit extra for Walker to get him more quickly.

Saw a good point that we could potentially have a big back four now.

Kompany, Stones, Walker and Mendy, with those full backs now adding some much needed height and strength to the team.

We'll end up with a new defensive mid in the same bracket next summer when Yaya leaves us.
