Why would he choose Liverpool over city?
I have seen this question pop up a few times this summer and it makes me angry. It is so filing raggish and entitled.

There are many reasons a player can decide to choose one club over the other. Money, playing time, chances of trophies, playing style etc. But the most important reason and one most don't being up is how much the team wanted them.

If we wanted Mendy as an option amongst many options but another team called him everyday and was interested in catering to his every need, of course he'd go where he felt the most love. And that often has nothing to do with what fans consider the better club.

And for what its worth, I think he'll be far better at Liverpool than he'll be here. He is a better fit for what they do.

15m? That's a very good business. I would have loved him here for that money.
Again, these prices make a mockery of the pretense around here that there is some inflated market for players. There isn't. Rodriquez, even though I personally don't rate him, is considered to be a top 10 LB in Europe. Going for 15 million pounds. This suggests a general price of 15 - 30 million for the best LBs outside of LB starting at the very best clubs (I.e Marcelo, Alaba, Alba, and Sandro.).

Liverpool have been potentially handed a huge boost in the race for Benjamin Mendy after his move to Manchester City stalled. [L'Equipe]

The transfer window isn't open yet ffs!
Clubs can still sign players now so whether the window is open or not is not relevant here. The manner in which Silva happened compared to other potential signings that were in the public eye is why I say so.
