We certainly 'front load' our fees more than most clubs.

No idea on the specifics. Just heard a few things about us being a little smarter with our fees nowadays. Certainly seems to be the case with this one. Maybe Mendy's injury record is a concern?

Long gone are the days where we jumped straight in with a huge up front fee to beat off competition. We don't need to get into bidding wars these days. The lad wants us and only us.

depends if no Mbappe means we push on for a CB and DM which I think we do need to have a complete squad. Relying on Yaya or Kolarov next season will be a weakness that will be exposed imo.

Question is whether that other face is a fallback for Mbappe or, more likely, were we only in on the lad because he's a once in a decade (or more) talent?

If we get all the ones you have mentioned then it will have been a fantastic window, with signings in the positions we have been desperate for.

If you feel able to add Mbappe to your list please feel free to but no pressure. What will be, will be.

If we get Mendy, Walker Alves, Bertrand and Sanchez,but no Mbappe we may have money left, but somebody would need to be sold to make room so assuming we wont sell Fernandinho , most likely Otamendi or Kolarov would need to be sold and the money spent on a centre back.
