Can't help but feel we've massively overpaid for him... Obviously hope he proves me wrong but £52m is bonkers.
Morata for £60million, Lukaku for £75 million, plus £15 million in add-ons for a man who has no first touch. We bought Ederson for £35 million. It's the market. We got a guy who has the chance to be the best fullback in world football and already is pretty good from a team who had no reason to sell him and already a starter for his national team. It's a lot I agree. But if he is a catalyst to a couple PL winning sides and maybe a CL winning team for City it won't matter.

Morata will reach £70m with his add ons as well

The transfer fee has got nothing to do with how much he's worth. It's got everything to do with how much Monaco will let him leave for.

Making a valid point is flapping? In your world maybe. I simply pointed out the situation as it currently stands. Your reaction is more of a flap from how I see it.

Chelsea should be more worried about us hijacking their targets than we should of them.

We've already appear to have taken Danilo and it would be extremely naive to think that we don't already have an agreement with Mendy.

After the Alves situation there's no chance that we will lose our first choice LB who we have coveted for months.

the french press maybe be playing games here and the quote being used by the british media could be a smoke and mirrors again. this summer the media have had a field day with manchester city in the targets and signings somebody is playing games and next things go tits up and city look silly. i have this funny feeling the press/media want pep out of manchester city before he can build this empire and the premier league does not want manchester city running away with the league for the next 5 years and somebody is working behind the scenes doing the dirty they are under orders to unsettle pep and man city in anyway possible

we seen it last season in the premier league with the officials in the games and media watch on city players some of the stuff going on was criminal you only have to watch the chelsea game at the etihad to see what was going on i am not looking forward to the new season just yet and i have not change my mind something fishy going on

I think we all felt a little picked on last season and the suspicion is all we need to look for similar occurrences but I look to our transfer forum threads and we have ITK posts some of which happen and others do not.
I suppose my point if there is or was a collective decision to ensure City and our manager in particular do not succeed surely we would have at least one ITK telling us how this has been agreed and what the future holds for us. Up to now we have had a quite successful window but the French Press surely want their best players at PSG or staying at Monaco so they will act with patriotism in mind.
Our own press and media are still under financial pressure with the digital age threatening their traditional sales so appealing to their biggest readers or subscribers is logical so they skew their stories accordingly. Of course they want United success over City, of course they see City downfall as good news, they need headlines that sell papers not the truth.

Just my opinion of course.

The Smiths are great, but its not one of their songs no. Your other point that I need medical help, exactly why? Stating facts is now an illness? Dear God.

from the post I first replied to I thought you were an over anxious blue, but you come over as a robot. a miserable one at that.

But you weren't stating facts, simply your opinion. Some will agree and some wont
I was stating facts. If you believe reports saying monaco agreed a price then its logical to believe a contact hasnt been signed if that hasnt been reported. My point was factual, fuck me for daring to point it out though!

Quite possibly but then we also had an agreement with alves. If chelsea offer more plus more in wages mendy doesn't have any affection for city so it would be a problem. I never said it would happen just noting caution until its officially completed. The reactions of some on here (not you,) to a valid scenario are a little freaky.

If we paid 100 million I couldn't care less.

We need a left back and Txiki is easily getting the best one there was last season. This was the one player I wanted brought in, the lad has it all. He's Micah Richards with the skill of Elano.

The thoughts of him and Sane tearing the left side of our opponents to shreds just gives me goosebumps, and we won't be getting caught on the counter from the left flank anytime soon.

It is interesting that so many on here repeatedly voice a concern at the fees we pay, despite the fact that we were recently valued as the most valuable club in the premier league. Player investment is exactly that, it builds the wider business value, enhances our brand profile and gives us an opportunity to compete in the world's most valuable league and the premier club competition in world football.

I do not hear Chelsea fans complaining about the Morata fee (70m) or United fans complaining about the Lukaku fee. We have bought real quality in this window and now sit at the top table. It's something to celebrate that we are here. For so long, we didn't have a sniff, apart from the salt and vinegar wafting down Claremont Road.

Robot! Nah. Miserable? Nah. Considering one of my earliest memories is sat on the 192 bus after the match in disbelief that Luton had just relegated us, what's happening now is like swallowing a 100 happy pills mixed with a dollop of viagra!

Manchester United and Chelsea were interested in Mendy at the end of last season but lost interest when it was clear that he would only go for considerably more than the £30 million yhey valued him at. Mendy's preference appears to be City and Guardiola. It appears unlikely in the extreme, therefore, that Chelsea will do anything now they know they have to pay over £50 million to scupper a deal which should be completed in the next few days. That and Chelsea being in China at the moment. But if you prefer to inhabit a fantasy world where sabotaging Ciy transfers is the only motive other clubs have, then it's up to you.
