Bernard the Blue from Chadderton

I remember going to Blackpool a night before we played Oldham and the hotel had a fire when they were cooking our tea

That was a mad night, I ended up with a right looker - not

Fucking hell this thread brings me back!! I cut my City teeth watching games with these guys. My best buddy from Rochdale, Tommy, knew these guys. I always remember Bernard with a burger in his mouth in a pub somewhere. Glinny is that guy still alive?? Every time I saw him he was a mild mannered bloke drinking a pint and we would sit and have a chat.

I also remember a guy called Albie who was absolutely mental. For soem reason this guy had loads of girls. he got so much pussy it was untrue.

I remember a long session in the Chaddy Tavern after we beat Sundarland (and relegated them) in the early 90's. What great craic that was!!!!

Frank, are you still in touch with Mick ? Ive not seen him for a few years now.

Does anyone remember the day we played Oldham and the pub opened around 8am and was full by around 10am and actually ran out of beer by around 1.30/2.00pm. Steve the landlord had to ring for more beer to be delivered during the match ready for after the match

Was that the Andy Morrison game?

Steve's a goner now, couple of years back, God rest his soul.

I dont think it was the Andy Morrison game cos i was at that game with my son and i worked behind the bar before the game i mentioned and i know my son didnt come to that game.

Steve was a great bloke,he took over the Dog Inn in Chadderton a few years before he sadly passed away. I went to his funeral and to the wake afterwards and i dont think he will mind me saying it was the best wake ive ever been too.

Was it not the last game of the season, we won 5-2. Think white scored a hat trick

Thats the one, we had supporters branches coming to the pub from all over the country. If i remember rightly the Winchester blues were one of the first to turn up....god knows what time they set off

you see even though i lost a load of brian cells over the years you always remember great City days

having spent nigh on 10 years following the blues with the lads from Chadderton during the late 80's and 90's, ive no brain cells left.

I wish id have done some kind of diary/memoirs, it would have been a footballing best seller

i was one of the winchester blues i think we left about 8.00 am dont remember getting back though great times then how they have changed.
