Bernardo said in the interview you quoted he is comfortable playing on the right offensively and in the middle of the park as an 8. He said both are where he feels most comfortable.

LOL okay I'm confused. Please tell me:

1) what exactly is Bernardo's best position?
2) what position do you personally think he is going to /should play long-term?

Ezzy mate, get back to your football manager games lad because real football and real facts is obviously not for you.

Bernardo said in the interview you quoted he is comfortable playing on the right offensively and in the middle of the park as an 8. He said both are where he feels most comfortable. He had barely if ever played central midfield before coming to City and his best time in a City shirt, the 2019 run in, he was playing 99% of it on the RW. He is a very good central midfielder. He is a very good attacking midfielder ON THE RIGHT. Like he said in the interview you quote.

If you want to keep ignoring this, thats fine, but maybe this forum is not for you.
It appears that Ezzy has an opinion on everything. ;)

@twosips
The guy literally says that he has played all of his career at:
  • offensive midfielder ( Attacking Midfielder)
  • number 8 ( Central Midfielder)
"That's where I feel more comfortable"

playing RW in a Pep team means being isolated by the touchline for long parts of a game.

Bernardo's dribbling + his close control is the main reason Pep puts him on the RW and not Kevin.

Kevin's position:

we do not play the same way as Monaco you know that right?

I like the bit where you cut out the fact that he said on the right.

"right side as an offensive midfielder, or number 8. That's where I feel more comfortable."

He quite clearly means a right winger and as an 8, unless you think he's just describing the same position twice for no apparent reason and acting as if they're different.

offensive midfielder <--> Attacking Midfielder
(
number 10)

number 8
<--> Central Midfielder
(
number 8)

He is quite clearly talking about Attacking & Central Midfield....

as a winger Bernardo has mediocre end product.
(compared to his end product thru the middle)

You play Kevin or Foden on the wings week in week out like Bernardo and they will have mediocre end product too.
(compared to their end product thru the middle)

Kevin & Bernardo both play on the right side. But we only have David (and soon Foden) that can partner them on the left. That is Bernardo's problem
(Aouar & Foden gives us two new 10/8 on the left)

I see we're still pretending Aouar is "100%" despite having no agreement (or negotiations?) with the selling club yet.

Let's just agree that he has to be better. The argument about his position happens every year.

I don't even know where to start with this misinterpretation. You're only young I presume so i'll leave it there. You do you mate, but it really is blindingly obvious to anyone who's read that article what Bernardo meant.

Isn’t it just brilliantly awful when someone is this patronising and wrong at the same time.
Yes it is Kun, I agree. Now which one of us are you talking about again?

@OliMCFC @twosips my apologies if I'm wrong(and patronizing). I just didn't realize that:
  • "right offensive midfielder,"
  • "or number 8"
meant:
"right side as an offensive midfielder, or number 8. That's where I feel more comfortable."

He quite clearly means a right winger and as an 8,

Because the manager & I seem to both think that Silva is a No 10, it's his natural position.
At 24 Silva is the future and present of City, a player Guardiola can play in at least four positions.
Silva has actually operated in five: as a winger, wing-back, central midfielder, false No 9 and trequartista, which his manager views as Silva’s best position. It is unclear where he will be deployed for Sunday’s Carabao Cup final against Chelsea.

I think as a No 10 behind the striker [is his natural game] but as a winger he can move inside, stay wide, he can play in all positions in the middle, attacking positions – he can play three or four positions,” Guardiola says.
February 2019

Which is relevant to what I posted earlier:
Just because he can play on the wings does not mean he is productive there. Numbers back that up.
How do you think Kevin's season would go if he was primarily rotated on the right wing with Mahrez?

with Bernardo playing Kevin's role in midfield instead?

now imagine Kevin enduring that for the best part of 1 year and a half.

I still see him as Dave's replacement as our left sided No 8 with KDB on his right and Rodri as No 6. He needs more games in that position to get used it.
