Sky been pushing a six match ban ever since the story broke

He should seriously legally fight this. It was stupid thing to post in these times, but never intended as racist, never intended to insult and he should not let them to make a rule that basically make him a racist in public for his lifetime.

we should fight this all the way with the FA and to come out and saying silva is a racist is criminal and slander

how can anybody say its racist when mendy and silva are like brothers and team mates, if it was mendy and sterling posting the picture you think the media would be getting involved ??? why is it only racist when a non black person post stuff like that, i can dig up 100's of tweeter accounts when rooney was being called shrek and picture all over the internet and loads of other white men being called a lookalike with a poster or cartoon

i understand racist remarks joke or not are fully wrong ?? but it goes both ways and until everybody plays with the same cards in the deck this is not going to ever go away, and when somebody else can use it as a tool to hurt somebody else when clearly there was NO racial remark involved and they are doing it for a witch hunt and its nothing to do with being a racist just a way of unsettling a player and football club that is the real issue here

playing the racist card is like a game of its a knockout and playing your joker card and getting double points???

why has mendy not been allowed to defend silva in the media or why are nobody else listening to mendy in what he is says when he clearly is backing silva in saying it was a joke between them not any problems, friends and family can joke about anything its nothing to do with anybody else unless they don't like it and it upsets them that's the line you don't cross and then you ask for help to sort it out

Between the extremely dumb post itself and how aggressively stupid we've been at handling it from a PR perspective it should be no surprise that he's been charged. Ironically if we'd just apologized right away and moved on, the very idea of which was so repellent to most on here, it would've killed the story dead, everyone would've forgotten almost immediately, and this would've never happened. Hopefully we can at least take a lesson from it from that perspective.

Also his punishment is more likely than not just going to be a sternly worded letter, you guys need to calm down.

Rooney’s tweet re: the Toures was far more malicious and totally escaped official censure. Fucking disgraceful act.

Bernardo has shown a certain lack of judgement, but without any associated rancour. Applying any sort of proportionality, the worst sanction should be a warning about future conduct, with possibly a small fine. Any ban would be outrageous, although there’s no way he’ll get banned for more than a couple of games irrespective, imo.

I agree, apart from the ban bit, simply because I do not trust the duffers at the FA to deal with this in a reasonable manner: I mean, they have already failed on that score.

This stinks of witch hunt.

I'm not one of the conspiracy theorists but last nights latest VARce and this charge make it harder than ever to deny that they aren't all out to get us.

No one is going to remember this in a week. Except of course if you start a completely unnecessary and drawn out legal fight about it.
