I think we all know deep down that culturally it can be interpreted as quite a bit different. Bernardo needs to take it on the chin, learn from it and move on.

Between the extremely dumb post itself and how aggressively stupid we've been at handling it from a PR perspective it should be no surprise that he's been charged. Ironically if we'd just apologized right away and moved on, the very idea of which was so repellent to most on here, it would've killed the story dead, everyone would've forgotten almost immediately, and this would've never happened. Hopefully we can at least take a lesson from it from that perspective.

Also his punishment is more likely than not just going to be a sternly worded letter, you guys need to calm down.

To me is not the punishment. Its the insinuation that he will have to live with for his whole life.

I doubt even the most avid anti Man City fan really believes that Bernardo is racist or that he meant to cause offence with that tweet. Even foaming at the mouth Liverpool fan's who would benefit if he received a six game ban deep down don't believe it.

Was the Terry and Suarez charge misconduct or were they charged under a different heading?

All I can see they could find him guilty of is posting a tweet that MAY cause offence by it's context. The target of the tweet was not offended and as the cartoon has not been banned that cannot be viewed as racist.

Although in today's climate it was a stupid thing to do he may have a strong case legally if they tried to pin racism on him.

I really hope a top player refuses to sign for one of our "chosen" teams and states that the reason is that they would prefer to play somewhere where they can maintain a normal relationship with fellow players of any colour without risking being labelled a racist and having their name tarnished. Like it or not one of the best players to ply his trade in this country has now to live with the label of being racist for the rest of his life. Shameful and disgraceful.

This whole racism witch hunt is out of control and I maintain does nothing more than actually deepen mistrusts fear and divide. Truly ridiculous.
