But it wasnt sent to Mendy. It was posted on social media so its in the public domain.Like it or not this country has a long history of racism, which includes the use of cartoon imagery. You can buy badges of the old logo for marmalade on racist websites.
A picture of shaggy and a lanky dopey white guy is not the same. Maybe if we had been a black country selling whites as slaves and saying they were animals, stupid and dopey then it might be equivalent but it isn't.
If he sent it to Mendy and Mendy is fine with it that's between them. Bernard apologised, Mendy supports him, there was no intent. But it was public and the FA can not be seen to ignore it.
Unfortunately it doesnt matter that Mendy wasnt offended as there is a long line of right-thinking people who are offended on his behalf whether he wants them to be or not.
As i said earlier, the players need to stay off social media.
