the media calling silva a racist / to the media calling the manchester city oil money owners, i know who the real racist are

at what stage did the tweet silva sent to mendy was calling anybody or was meant as a racist joke, the world has gone mad, the media bashing is a target to unsettle the manchester city camp and player because we are the best team in england, the gutter press are using all the tools in the book to make a team from merseyside look like angles that do nothing wrong like hack other clubs computers to cheat

I have no doubts that this is a deliberately targeted attempt to unsettle our players/club.

Very little column inches on the illegal cyber hacking by a certain scouse club. ( which when you get down to it is deliberate cheating)
Even less about a pathetic 300 quid fine for a certain European club who have been found guilty of tapping up another player and the fuckwit president of that league making numerous slanderous comments has amazingly gone silent.

When Bernardo next scores I hope Mendy hoists him on his shoulders in the centre circle while city fans shout " he tweets what he wants"

The hypocrisy in modern football is disgusting.

Fuck everyone else!

Absolutely, as Barnes said “the cute little boy cartoon and Mendy look alike” and they do, more so than Tin tin and KDB.

I’d love to know by those upset, or offended, which black cartoon characters they would have been happy with Bernie comparing Mendy to?

I'd be interested to hear the answer to that.

Could a white person compare a black person with anyone or anything that wouldn't have generated offence amongst a group of people?

Compare a black person to a cartoon with a near-exact white equivalent = offensive because the previous cartoon character was a stereotype.

Compare a black person to another black person = offensive because you're saying they all look alike.

Don't compare a black person with anything = offensive because you're leaving the black guy out.

Fucking hell.

Those offended should make themselves known as I cannot for one second see it being remotely racist .fucking people have nothing better to do than take offence to things that have no relevance to them.once they come forward they can then rightly be ridiculed for being the pathetic snowflakes that they are.its a good job shouty man is off the radio at the moment as he'd be calling for the death penalty

Pep and City are abit soft sometimes, just needed to tell media scum it's finished No more Questions on Bernardo or Mendy, during his press conference, this farce has fucking gone on long enough now.

You've been reasonable in this thread, so let's discuss it.

If Bernardo said "Hey, Ben looks a lot like (literally picking anyone) Denzel Washington", that's not offensive (it's not funny either but just bear with me). The fact that he compared him to a cartoon isn't even a problem. If Bernardo said "Hey, Ben looks a lot like (again picking anyone) Cleveland from Family Guy" that's also not offensive.

However, that's not what happened, he said Ben looks like this specific character, which is itself a racist depiction of people of African heritage. Characters, and caricatures, exactly like the one he posted have been used for many, many, years to make fun of, dehumanize, and generally make black people feel like shit or that they don't belong among us. The character itself, the context, and the deep historical racism implied by the character is the offensive part. I understand it was a joke between mates, but Bernardo has 600k followers. No black person want to see those images anymore and be reminded of a time where it was ok to casually dehumanize their race.

That's just my perspective, and you're free to disagree, but that's where we are coming from.

The cartoon Bernardo used stems from a racist stereotype. It’s a simple as that. Whether Mendy is offended or not doesn’t change that fact. This also isn’t the first Bernardo has been suspect with his behaviour when you look at that Instagram video floating about where Mendy is wearing a black shirt and short and Bernardo says he is completely naked, implying that Mendy is pitch black.

Now I don’t think either Bernardo or Pep are racists, but they have shown a serious lack of awareness in this situation and should both go on whatever racial awareness course the FA have in mind.
