Seriously, we have to be able to make distinctions between an innocent joke and actual racism. Chelsea-fans shouting the n-word at Sterling – THAT is a real problem, this isn't. But unfortunately politically correct people will always exist in this crazy world and will continue to make a big deal out of just about anything.

Yes, but since we're in the work place, I don't really have to put up with listening to racially abusive language, so if it happened again, I'd probably report it. I really don't think I'm saying anything remotely controversial here.

This I will at least agree with. If it’s in the workplace and you’ve already said you were uncomfortable with those jokes, and the guy keeps telling them, then reporting him is appropriate, but a first time offense like Bernardo’s is not warranting punishment, especially when mbappe and Mendy himself laugh it off.

But those thoughts, in today’s age create an unnecessary outrage because they’re offended and we’re all so scared at offending people even though nothing actually happens when you’re offended. If people remained offended and BSilva kept his tweet up and told everyone, “ok” at being offended the entire planet would be outraged but...why

I accept that there are lots of people not acting in good faith on Twitterz who are the to instigate outrage at every possible chance, by and large, at least on my timeline, it's mostly just people reacting to what they see.

Free speech does not mean free from consequence, so just as Bernardo is within his rights to put up a racially insensitive joke on his social media, people are within their rights to have an opinion about it.

If opposition fans had a banner raised with that picture on there targeting one of our players during a game, would any of you have a problem with it? I know I would. I don't believe Bernardo is a racist, but for goodness sake, in today's climate, it is simply irresponsible. Like it or not, footballers are global celebrities and a lot of kids look up to them. That kind of banter should be done in private if not at all. Even in private, such jokes are made and the target often laughs ostensibly but deep down, it can be hurtful. Racism has a painful history to some of us and such comments in light of the challenges we are still facing with this issue in society, is simply irresponsible and inconsiderate at best.

Dumb comparison when the context of those two incidents are completely different. Context is so important in these discussions

I make racist jokes to my black mates all the time. It's probably one of most un-racist things there is but something that is clearly not understood by the nutters pretending to have the moral high-ground.
Bernardo is kind of makeing fun of the "racist trope" itself and in a sane world that should be perfectly acceptable.
In any case, he will now be sent to indoctrination camp to be "re-educated" by shadowy figures who are obsessed with race and human differences. The irony...
Being offended is a choice. And a profitable one for some.

Opinions I’m all for, have an opinion, it doesn’t change anything but opinionated people are welcome on social media of course!

What I don’t get, and maybe it’s an education thing but what was racist about that tweet? I don’t see any discrimination or prejudice.

Yeah, I have no interest in seeing Bernardo suspended or fined, especially considering it wasn't outright racist abuse and the lack of any malicious intent.

If someone calls you racist for no reason, then ofcourse I would be offended. I have white friends who were called racists because of the way they spoke to me and it pissed me off. But I also understood that someone of my color has the right to get offended because of the things they heard.
BTW, no one here has said Silva is racist. People are saying he is just dumb to post it on twitter. So not sure why you are pulling up racism here.
