Now that we've signed Haaland, the best piece of business we can do for the rest of the summer is keeping hold of Bernardo. He's absolutely integral to our midfield and crucial to our chances of retaining the league next season.

I think some of the earlier leaks about how he was among their most wanted targets does mean he was on their list. Now new reports that he was discussed in a meeting with Mendes yesterday. I absolutely do not want to lose Bernardo, but we could certainly do worse than having FDJ, Zinchenko with Cucurella also arriving if he were to leaveI'm sure they'd like him. Want him probably not, because they know they can't.

as last summer,
they want to *make it seem* like they are in for bernardo. good for PR, pacifies the fans. then, after everyone's bought all the merch and the sponsors have all paid up, gosh darn it seems like we can't afford him.
