yeah it could even start in january to be honest mate. No excuses to not be prepared though if he has told us he wants out next summer?
It's hard for us fans to understand. Bernardo says he's happy at City, & we can't see why any player wouldn't want to play for City.

However, we're emotional fans, but Bernardo is essentially a committed employee, with little more than a professional approach to his job & an appreciation that the club & fans love him.

We don't get why a 28 year old can't sit tight for another 4-5 years & then live out the rest of his life in the sun as a wealthy & medal laden man. Bernardo wants a big club in the sun, & to sample another project. If that's what he wants, it's what he wants.

Personally if I was City I'd tell him we want him to stay & sign an improved contract extension.

BUT if he STILL wants to leave for Barça next summer, he needs to sort out any potential move early, & if a suitable offer doesn't materialise by a given deadline, then he must publicly commit to City & get his head down so we can all get back to business.

The whole will he/won't he bollocks with Bernardo soured what should have been a crucial transition transfer window.

Well said. This makes complete sense.

As I succinctly put it 500 pages ago. I claim ITK status alongside @alexmcity

:)

Btw, I don't like to post a lot about possible transfers, because I trust in Txiki/Pep, we are generally excellent in the transfer market. The whole point of my comments in the transfer forum was to show that one can get a lot of things right without any inside info. The publicly available info is perfectly enough to understand what's likely to happen (as long as one understands what makes sense for Pep/Txiki, but if one pays attention to what they say it's obvious).

A lot of people love to have ITKs around, so I respect that.

Agreed. Bernardo's words give little confidence that we won't be going through another Barça/Bernardo Bingo session next summer if they raise the £84m we want.

I love the guy, but... :-/
well that's up to you and those on this thread who've been telling us he's off for 2 seasons now.
Absolute bullshit been posted as fact for months now and plenty giving up on him whilst still a City player.
At least it proves the internet itk's actually know fuck all.
As it happens, his words fill me with joy at the prospect of watching him for the rest of the season.

I kind of get the feeling that that's exactly the position we were in a year ago though as it's been known he wanted to leave for ages now and I think we've always said we wouldn't stand in his way. Barcelona are the problem. So we can set a price but unless they actually bother to bid enough for him we'll be stuck with another window of the will be/won't he leave.

I don't get the feeling that he's so desperate to leave that he's settle for any club that has the money. Like I don't think it would have made a difference if PSG offered to pay the price as he's already won the league in France and I don't think the weather is significantly better and it's not that much closer to home. He seems to want Spain and only Barcelona are in the running. I think they're going to keep trying to use the fact he only wants Barca to keep low balling us.

He's not desperate, more likely he feels the pressure from his family that wants him to play closer to his home so they can watch him daily on Barcelona without the need to go to England on weekly basis and his girlfriend doesn't like to live in Manchester.

I'm sure if there no two factor above, he will be less likely to leave to play for Barcelona in Spain.

Mate, City fans aren't making up all the Bernardo wanting to leave bollocks. The man's said so himself! :-/

You maybe the type to want to cling on to a want away girlfriend & be prepared to do anything including soiling yourself to keep her, but me personally I'd pack her bags, order the taxi & load up her luggage for her.

Yeah, she might sensationally fuck your brains out for another 12 months, & if nowt else better comes along she might even stay with you longer, but how can you be settled longterm knowing at any time you could come in from work & see her luggage packed because some other dude has offered her something you possibly can't.

Two days ago, Bernardo himself said whilst he likes Manchester, he's used to a Latin lifestyle & culture & would prefer to have that now with a new project if the opportunity presented himself.

Have some fuckin self respect for yourself man! Bernardo's publicly said what he's said & reiterated what we already know. In my mind, we've got 12 months to rinse all we can get out of him & find the best replacement we can, just in case Barça find a magic money tree & meet our €100m valuation.

Best case scenario is Bernardo realising he was apparently supposed to be Barça's big summer signing, but seeing that they've signed half a team by activating economic door knobs (or whatever the fuck it was), & they STILL didn't prioritise Bernardo, & instead opted to link FDJ being sold for top pesos, to a suitable bid for Bernardo being made.

As it stands, it seems only PSG made a late derisory bid which we evidently rejected because it didn't meet our valuation & was too late in the window. Bernardo didn't seem that arsed about that late bid when he mentioned it anyway.

Evidently Bernardo only wants Barça. Barça want Bernardo. City don't want to sell, but have placed a valuation on his head that if it's met & we have time to sign his replacement, he can reluctantly go. Barça couldn't find the money, so Bernardo stays for the season. Anything else is merely white noise. Have I missed anything out? :-/

Anybody thinking he's away in January are off their tits.
Not in the middle of a title run. The man is a professional. If we are out of the top three though? I could see us and him exploring it again.

He carries on his early season form and we will be clear at the top of the table and likely being in our best position to win the CL.

Said earlier in August that this team will make history. Bernardo won’t be wanting to miss out on the plaudits that come with that.

I’ve accepted this could very well be his last season with us and I can live with that even if I’d prefer him to retire with us.
