When we didn’t get Kane, we were used to playing a certain way and that wasn’t a problem. We also had options in the squad. Being successful one season does not mean you get successful the next. I couldn’t name several examples here. If anything, there are more examples of teams that are successful one season and sit still then have a drop off than the opposite. We were successful with Gundogan and Mahrez. We replaced Gundogan with a lesser player. We haven’t replaced Mahrez. That isn’t “sticking with what we got”. You’d have to be stupid not to understand thatIf we are a highly successful team then why shouldn't stick to what we have got and wait for the correct target. Harry Kane did us a favour in turning us down.
