You must be wrong. The media states we have a massive squad and strength in depth.
We rinsed the squad dry last season. At this rate, our players will be physically & mentally burned out before they reach 30.

Personally, I'd rather we have a bit of headroom in the squad & Pep have to manage a couple more egos, & soothe the fevered brows of a couple EDS lads, than us face a squad crisis every time we get 2-3 injuries.

Cancelo & Laporte are evidently all but gone. Rumours are Bernie's Mrs is about to drop & we know KDB is out until 2024, & Stones until after the International break.

Added to Dog & Mahrez moving on, that's SEVEN players who'd have expected to start 12 months ago, either gone, going or unavailable, with only Kovacic & Gvardiol incoming.

It's a sobering realisation... \0/

I know we are suppose to 'honour the integrity' of the competitions, but I think that we should treat the FA and Carabao cups as second rate for a couple of years whilst the organisations sort out the calendar and amount of games. I would hate doing it, but something has to be done and the only thing is to hit their 'brands' where it hurts. It's a pretty shit competition if the best team in the world aren't engaging.

The upside is under 21/23 players get to experience a more physical game earlier, and Bernie and the rest would get time to recover more, playing up to 10 games less per season. I know FIFA or UEFA don't give a shit about English football, so it's a difficult sell. I'm amazed the PFA aren't getting involved. Our players are running the equivalent of 2 or 3 10k's per week for 48 weeks per year. It's unsustainable and in years to come will be the next 'heading the ball' court case.

1. SSN: Silva verbally agrees a one year extension to remain at Manchester City.

2. SSN: PSG end pursuit of Silva.

3. Also SSN: PSG won't give up on signing No 1 target Silva THIS transfer window.

One & two were said within 20 seconds of each other, whilst three was on the scrolling headline underneath. Confused much.... ¯\_ಠ_ಠ_/¯

Thought it was a 2yr extension with a release clause that can be activated after the first year?

Agree in part, but clubs don't do themselves any favours by jetting half way round the world for pre-season and even during winter break. And it's commercial, not for fitness.

Twofer, really, isn’t it?

Usually hot, get a couple of games in, keep the players together, broaden their horizons, give youngsters good experience, pay for a new player… perhaps even more than a twofer!!
