Bernardo Silva

Game time will help mcatee no doubt but don’t think he’s a CM type? If (and it’s a monumental if at the minute) Bernardo wants out this summer then we may do a deal to get Frenkie from Barca this summer and then Bellingham next summer as planned to replace Gundogan? Kev isn’t getting any younger either so planning is crucial imo.
Think people that watch the academy says he is an 8 and if he has a Palmer-like progression next season he could be one of the midfielders added next summer.

I know it’s wishful thinking, but Bernardo pushing for a move could open up a spot for another local player.

By all accounts, frenkie prefers a move to us but we have not seen any link to us in the papers or we are even interested in him.

Maybe that depends on the Bernardo situation? He has 3 years left but pep won’t keep him if he isn’t committed imo. Is Frenkie the best option for us if Bernardo leaves?

Big jump to replace Bernardo though? Possible he makes that jump sure but I think we would still need another world class CM and give mcatee the game time Foden got around that time to bed him in rather than throw him in?

What is Bernardo on weekly? Googling tells me it's £150k. If that's right, he might fancy being on the £300k or round about that other top earners at the club get, which surely a player so essential to this team deserves. At the very least, he might want a significant hike.

So a contract renegotiation is in order. If you're negotiating a new contract, what you don't do is tell the other party your firm position out of the gate. So even if he wants to stay, it would hardly be sensible to make a public statement confirming your commitment to a club you're about to try and get to considerably up your wage.

He needs to keep his own position as strong as possible and that means City need to have a sliver of a doubt he'll leave.

I remember only recently (I think just after the PL win) Bernardo made a comment talking about next season as if he assumed he was staying. That may very well still be his desire, but if his agent is about to try and get him more money, he needs to help him out by leaving him holding at least a few cards.

I've no idea if Bernardo wants to stay or go, but those comments reported on Twitter, that we'll see what happens, make sense either way, if he wants to stay or go. It would be foolish to say otherwise if contract negotiations are in play for the coming weeks.

Yeah, it’s wishful thinking. But imagine Foden, Palmer and Mcatee as regular starters in a PL winning team. Manc heaven.

If Barca somehow found the cash would that money not just go to Bellingham this year instead? Next year find another midfielder to replace gundo?
Of course Barca are skint

Frenkie this year and then Bellingham next year would be my preference if Bernardo was determined to leave.

Stop talking sense!

I will never understand how Barca managed to pay for Torres let alone make other signings. No chance they can get the money for Bernardo or his wages.

They managed to get Torres because we agreed to be paid on the drip 12 months later we such a nice club when it comes to what one of our players wants.

Barcelona need to find 400m they owe there players defer wages but yeah they linked to Silva what a propaganda machine that debt ridden club are.

Spot on.

The money just isn't out there for someone like Bernie and Mendes knows this, which is why he has been trying to chum the waters for two summers, in a bid to see what comes floating to the surface.

Cash is king and Barca need it. Paris have it, but do they want him?

Italian clubs penny pinch.

City have told him a new deal is his if he wants it, so let's hope he does!
Give him a new deal with a specific (but high) release clause and then we keep him but he can see there is a way out in certain circumstances.
Mendes could do with offering something up given the shitshow with ronaldo last year

IF Bernardo wants to go City should just dump the money on Bellingham, even if he’s said he wants to stay. Barella is a great option. De Jong should of course be an option. Hard to replace our running machine.

Nahh worse case scenario is we have silva for 3 more seasons and he goes for nowt when he is 30.

I am looking forward to seeing how do city deal with contracts. Cash in or let them run down the contract as you say..

Jesus , Mahrez , Raz , Gundo - 4 players with 1 year left

Jesus - leaving
Mahrez - no idea
Raz- run down contract / sell / renew
Gundo- run down / sell

Case to case basis - obviously I hope we dont get in that situation with Bernie

Mahrez be happy to stay and get a one year extension

Sterling staying and signing a new contract I have at around 66.6% chance or leaving for free next end of next season.

Gundogan leaving when contract runs out end of next season.
