He is on the payroll at Barca 100%. Laporta will have told him this directly.

It's true. Was close last summer. The only questions are the fee and can Barca get him registered. I can see Barca wanting minimum up front, got to be £100m when all done. And the salary cap and forcing players out and taking pay cuts is literally criminal.

I’d be very wary about joining Barcelona if I were Bernardo.

The guy is class, but his output in numbers will be replaced relatively easily. His work rate less so.

I feel he is leaving the best place for him as a footballer, and he’s clearly well liked and will be leaving a lot of friends behind.

I think, accumulatively, the reasons have added up for his need to move and he’s clearly been set on it for a long time. Mendy, the FA, lack of personal accolade for that insane 18/19 season for club and country, lockdown and so on.
