Bert Trautmann upset no official final invite

In 2009 Bill Kenwright paid for 50 former players to travel and attend the Cup Final and invited every one of them to the after game party in the Grosvener Hotel and paid for their overnight accomodation . Kenwright is not the most popular person at Everton but he was praised by all for this gesture . It was only a simple gesture but thoughtful and much appreciated by those players who never earned vast amounts of cash playing for their team

sounds like a stuck up bloke full of his own self importance.

hope city don't even bother inviting him next time with that attitude, if h really cared about the club or the fans he'd have bitten their hand off word of mouth or not.

Probably best to wait for the full story before slagging a proper MCFC legend.

"sounds like"

Well he can happily call up City and say "yes i'll have that ticket thanks", call the interview a lie and state all the positives about what he thinks of the club's progress then.

How do the paper no he is unhappy .i am sure the ex players association were consulted about who to invite .nearly every player is a Legend to someone on here & we cant invite everyone & there wives & kids as some on here would slag the club of for giving to many tickets away when proper fans cant get them .Whatever they do some in the press will write bullshit

Well when he says Stoke have better team spirit and they are favourites then he can do one. Reading that article, he sounds like a really bitter, old man

Bert Trautmann the City goalkeeper that played on in the FA cup final with a broken neck is the most famous incident in FA cup history. He is a city legend firmly established in the City Hall of Fame. If anyone deserved VIP treatment today its him. With the antics of Tevez, AJ, Milner Balo etc any independent supporter would say Stoke have shown more team spirit than us. He supports City but perhaps he just doesnt wear the blue tinted glasses that distort a lot of City views. IMO he should have been given special treatment it is a big missed publicity opportunity to prove our clubs history if nothing else!

I suspect it was just overlooked!

I was lucky enough to be invited by a director of Birmingham last season to watch the B/ham game at COMS from the directors' box. Bert T was a guest that day and was presented with a special award. In the directors' suite he was a true gent. Great pity that City could not deploy sufficient skills to arrange for his attendance. Something must have gone amiss. Great pity as BT will not, such is human frailty, be around much longer.
