For many years The Stranglers (at the Apollo 1980 - I was 13), was my first and best ever live gig experience, but in 88-89 I saw The Happy Mondays absolutely tear up The International 2 on Plymouth Grove. The Mondays were magnificent live.
I saw Mondays last year in cambridge they were not that good Bez was on stage with a cast on his arm and Ryder just lent against the drum kit warbling

You nob, there is a time difference of 20 years. What will Girls Aloud be like in 2028?

the best band ive seen live was Ian Brown Thetford Forest i know hes not a band but i try to be different

I was at that gig at Thetford Forest and Ian Brown was the tits that night!!

Saw Oasis at Maine Road in 96 (I think) and that was amazing, probably the best gig I've been to, in that it was (early) Oasis, at Maine Road, I was standing on THAT pitch and I remember when they played "Champagne Supernova" I just looked up at the stars and thought to myself "it doesn't get much better than this!!"

At Knebworth, however, I didn't think Oasis captured that Maine Road performance again, and I have to say, on the day, The Prodigy were immense..... and they are deffo one of the vest live acts I've ever seen

Between.
Ryan Adams and the Cardinals Picturehouse Edinburgh last year.
Drive By Truckers Arches in Glasgow Blessed and a Curse Tour.
Lucinda Williams Royal Concert Hall Glasgow 2003.

Black Grape, Sheffield Octagon, 1994.
Shaun Ryder and Kermit alked on stage and started throwing Es and wraps of coke into the crowd. Bez spent most of the gig trying to jump over the drum kit and failing.

It was 'quite a bit' mental!

I saw most of the major bands (Stones, Floyd, Purple, Queen, Police etc) in the 70's, later the new wave / punk bands like the Jam et al. Many contenders too - I would see at least one band and/or singer-songwriter (Dylan, James Taylor, Carole King, Leonard Cohen etc) every week but....

the band who I and many others thought were the best live band in the world was The Who.

No-one else even came close, and 'Live at Leeds' is often voted as the best live album for good reason. They weren't my favourite band, but they were the best live band that I've ever seen.
