Best Chippie

I've been going to the same chippy , two hundred yards from the front door , for thirty years , during which time it's only had three owners . Have to say West Yorkshire does have the best . When I first moved here and asked for my standard pudding , chips and peas in a tray with gravy I got short shrift as no self respecting chippy sold pies .

A tiny place in a basement of a house with the area in front to the counter about four feet wide .The first couple were monosyllabic with no banter what so ever . Queues out the door and orders were " twice with peas and bits " or " thrice with peas and a teacake ( yes ,its in West Yorkshire ) . Next owners lasted two weeks , retired teachers from Manchester . Jacked it in as hadn't realized how much hard work went into it . Current owners send out lots of orders via Deliveroo so standing area even more limited as its stuffed floor to ceiling take away boxes . Newspaper gone these days for wrapping but the product is still fantastic . I'm getting peckish just thinking about it .

Best sit down is old fashioned upstairs cafe Pearson's , Union St Halifax or Blakeley' s in Brighouse . Or Olympus Fish and Chips Restaurant , Bolton .

Huddersfield . But tbh just finished me tea from there and it was a bit meh so I'm a bit disappointed . Jackie , who owns it , said it's hard to keep going ATM . Overhead costs etc mean it's hard to turn a profit .
 
Have a ride over to yorkshire. Whitby is best , b&b .
The one we went to the other day was in a lay by just off the ring road in york , on the a1079 Called the scrap box , omg unbelievable

Whittakers Fish Bar on Station Rd, Cheadle, SK8 5AE (near Waitrose) has always fared thee well.

Open every day 11:30am - 21:00, Sun 16:00 - 21:00.

Had a bag of chips at lunchtime as we were out all day in work with no chance of getting back for a bite of what you take in for dinner like. Fuck me, I feel like I dont need to eat til about Friday. How do these fat cunts munch through shite food all the time?

Haha.

The older I get the harder I find it to eat stuff like this. Gone are the days of chippy dinner, a load of beer and a kebab for pudding.

If I ordered a fish and chips now I’d have to halve it. Can’t even remember the last time I had one.
