Best City Debuts

I don't know why but Mangala v Chelsea is always the one I remember, probably because of how bad the rest of his career was.

One that hasn't been mentioned, SWP's 2nd debut v Sunderland, just so good to see him performing in a City shirt again.
The day before we invented football!

Seem to remember Gary Mason having a blinder in the first game of the 98-99 season at home to Blackpool.

Unfortunately, he very quickly disappeared without a trace after less than half the season, if memory serves me correctly.
89-90 - Was at that game. He played well although he did look like he was wearing a shirt 2 sizes too big for him IIRC.

Anyone who saw him play in a City shirt after that might be forgiven for thinking his first name was 'Fuck-off'

Paul Hince vs The Baggies in 1967.. playing on the right-wing, scored both our goals in a 2-2 draw for 'God's Own Club' as he later described it during his journalistic career.

Walking home after the game down Lloyd Street to Hulme, The Old Man, who could usually spot a decent prospect, said to me 'He's going to be some player! Buzzer better watch out for his place!'

Hincey then made another 5 or so appearances for us after that game before transferring to Charlton.. The Old Man got that one right.. not!

Probably Aguero but Robinho’s was very exciting at the time….well until they scored!

The foursome of Corluka, Elano, Petrov and Bianchi at West Ham under Sven gave us some hope after the Pearce shitshow.

Adebayor at Blackburn the season after too.

Even Michael Johnson in a 4-0 defeat at Wigan did! Ha ha.

The one that sticks in my mind most is Aguero's when he scored 2 at home to Swansea. Should have gone to the game but my plane coming back off holiday was delayed several hours.

Which players do you think had a good debut game?
Sergio, without a doubt. He also had an assist - for Merlin's goal.

Rolando Bianchi at West Ham. He scored a good goal. Sadly, he faded very quickly, after that.

Kinkladze v Spurs 1996. Remember him dropping a shoulder in the centre circle and completely bamboozling the defender.

Keith Curle Coventry away 1991. Never kept a clean sheet away from home in the league, the year before. Great day, glorious sunshine, Quinny looping header and Curle organising the defence like he had been at City 10 years.

I used to love the audible sound from the crowd when Kinky got hold of the ball.
