Was great yesterday to have the chance to give him a well deserved standing ovation. He was awsome from start to finish . Dont know what price tag he should have but look at it this way ,, would you swap him for anyone else in the prem who plays the same role . Personally i wouldnt . just a theory .

I suspect Ireland was on Hughes "can be transfer if replacement is secured" list, just like Corluka was.

From memory he wasn't played in the early stages of pre-season and I think if we could have got someone in his place that Hughes would have been prepared for Ireland to go.

But credit to him for recognising that Ireland was a different player to what he might have thought, and once he was back into the fold he hasn't looked back.
