I dont know if anyone agrees with me, but since he came back from the world cup he is a better player. Last year too many times he would win a terrrifc ball. then fire it out of bounds, up the pitch right at the goalie or just turn it over.
I not sure its the Dutch coach or some of the players (I believe the latter). They told him, just win the ball, then find an attacking player, with a safe pass, keeping possession is more important than making an world class pass.
He just seems a much more mature and under control player than when he left.

Play De jong in the big games, not needed against bottom half sides.

How is he one-dimensional ? just because he doesnt score ? He has a role to do which is to screen the defense and he does it very well . its not as if he is playing behind the striker....
I'm a huge fan of NDJ, i think his footballing ability is very underrated because he keeps it simple. He has a brilliant first touch, his passing is good, wait until our full-backs begin pushing on a bit more, i reckon it'll get a bit more expansive.
Easy to knock him, but the ability to keep the ball isn't as simple as it looks, especially in English football, you have to be willing to take it in tight areas, and be 100% confident in your ability, he knows when to take a touch, where to put it, when to play it first time, he's just very assured in possession.
He makes the odd reckless foul, that comes with the territory, Makelele took players down all the time, easy to forget because by now you just remember the reputation.
I'm not sure i'd go as far as the best in the World though.
