Best ending to a film.

Made even sadder by the combination of the music and the fact that the film switched to real footage of his hearse & coffin being honoured!!
Very moving!!

The original plan was to have the final moment be the panning shot across the ocean, leaving the question mark for the audience of if Red and Andy ever did see each other again

I often like it when a film isn't nicely wrapped up at the finale (think No Country For Old Men), but in the case of Shawshank I think the ending was fitting for the film.
