Best European Weekend Football Trip

I've been to several games in Germany, including one weekend, where we went to Hanover - I forget the opposition - on the Saturday and Hamburger SV vs Hertha Berlin on the Sunday.

I also went, with the same friends, to Berlin for their final game of the season, again against Hamburg, in a renovated Olympic Stadium.

I would happily recommend either Berlin or Hamburg to anyone. Both cities are fantastic, the people are very friendly and, as has already been mentioned, the beer is great.

Yes, go to Hamburg, but go when St Pauli are at home!

Yes Berlin or Hamburg are a good decision for a weekend trip esp Berlin.
Footballwise you have to make sure one of the local clubs is playing athome
There are Hertha/Union in Berlin and HSV/St Pauli in Hamburg

So check your date

As Ruhr said you wont have that problem in NRW (Cologne Düsseldorf area)
Cause there are so many Bundesliga clubs in short distance and nightlife in Düsseldorf or Cologne is bad at all.

You can also go where everyone wears lederhosen Munich has 1860 and Bayern in the Alianz Arena

It all depends when you are going.

if you want to get Schalke tickets register at <a class="postlink" href="http://www.s04-ticketboerse.de/fansale/home.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.s04-ticketboerse.de/fansale/home.htm</a>? and check from time to time
You can also get tickets for Cologne from fansale

when you decide to go to NRW I have some more like flights with flybe from Manchester to Düsseldorf and so on
and perhaps you can get infos from <a class="postlink" href="http://www.schalke-fanclub-uk.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">www.schalke-fanclub-uk.com</a>

Googled it and it says you can dirnk beer at bundesliga games but they may not allow it for certain big games - anyone any idea how often they don't allow people to drink alcohol in the4 stands? e.g. are we just talking games the like ofr Dortmund vs Bayern or will it be most games e.g. hamburg vs hoffenheim, and how close to the game do they announce whether alcohol is allowed or not?

i only can remember it at matches, where rioting was to be expected. Like Mönchengladbach vs. Köln.

I was on a stag do in hamburg a few weeks ago,32 of us in total.Went to the St Pauli v Union Berlin game, atmosphere was amazing,a few of us was in seats @ €25 and some stood, pretty sure it was €12 to stand....Really good experience, add to that the mental nightlife and the jobs a good un.

At Bayern you can get beer at most games but I generally don't bother, a few before and a few more after is fine by me. I'll be in Munich for the Bayern - Dortmund game on Saturday but won't bother drinking in the ground.

For simplicity go somewhere you know you will get tickets on the day.

Benfica/Sporting/Porto would all be nice - Sagres as well.

Milan/Inter/Juve/Roma/Lazio/Fiorientina/Napoli

Ajax

Celtic/Rangers

Barcelona/Madrid/Valencia

Although Germany is good, it's harder to get tickets!

Been to the San Siro, Nou Camp, Olympic Stadium Rome, Stuttgart, Kaiserslauten, Shalke and. Hamburg.
If you want atmosphere do the San Siro.
